MINNEPROSESSERINGSMASKINEN
Interactive sound installation with 5.1 surround sound.
“Minneprosesseringsmaskinen” is built around a 1990s MasterKeyboard by Fatar. Each key is labeled with tape describing a corresponding sound. When you press a key, the room responds in 5.1 surround sound. It could be an empty room or a dissonant piano. A wading bird diving to signal a warning. Howling wind outside an elementary school, a distant voice, a helicopter in the mountains, and approaching footsteps. The sounds are rooted in Lofoten and are a deep dive into Petter’s archive of sounds from three years in Kabelvåg. A mix of field recordings, synthesizers, homemade instruments, and other sampled sounds flood the space, inviting you to listen, process, and compose.
Curators Jeppe Sengupta Carlsen and William Andreas Wivel.
